Texas Native Style

The lead landscape designer at ELD is certified by the University of Texas at Austin in Landscape Design & Texas Native Gardening. Edible Landscapes Dallas specializes in providing Texas native landscape design. This style of landscaping promotes the use of plants that are native and/or adapted to our climate zone, Zone 8 (DFW).

Why go native? In addition to conserving water and providing food and shelter for wildlife, native landscapes are low maintenance, colorful, and many of them give homes a modern touch.

The majority of the plants incorporated in ELD landscape designs are drought tolerant, heat tolerant, blooming and non-blooming, both deciduous and evergreen, Texas native and/or adapted perennials. These plants are perfect for landscapes that are under severe water restrictions (i.e. Plano and Frisco).

Here at ELD, we promote the use of both hummingbird and butterfly plants in every landscape. Check out our gallery to see our beautiful butterfly gardens!

Maintenance

ELD offers monthly or bi-monthly maintenance services for newly installed landscapes. Landscape maintenance includes weeding, pruning, removal of dead plant matter, fertilization, pest control, disease control, and applying soil amendments as needed. The cost of standard landscape maintenance starts at $80.00. Our rates depend on the size of the property and the type of plants that are in need of maintenance. .

Our blooming plants are cared for with the proper fertilizers and soil amendments in order to promote prolific blooms such as the ones seen on this Clematis vine.
